September 28th, 2021 - Thatguyintech's weekly update
Yesterday marks 1 full month of working on the Chibi Shinobis NFT project with Catherine, Matt, and Valerie.
We’re pivoting to building on the Solana blockchain to explore more energy-efficient technologies. Matt was very passionate about this topic, and since Catherine and I started new full-time jobs this week, he graciously volunteered to take on the work to port all of our Solidity code over to Solana.
We reached over 100 members in the discord this week!

There’s been a lot of great activity especially in:
#art (Shinjurou and catherine discussing anime fan art)
#counting (i killed the count at 101 😭)
#coworking-chat (catherine and hongj77 chatting about changing jobs)
#sf-bay-area (a discussion about nuclear energy with oliver)
#nft-discussion (wandreach and krispykat asking about our drop date!)
I started building a separate NFT project on Ethereum so I can finish the end-to-end flow of deploying to mainnet. It’s a project I’m calling Coolboms, and the motivation came from the discussion in #sf-bay-area around nuclear energy. My hypothesis is that with the funds raised from this project, I can donate to nuclear energy education and policy efforts to help advance clean energy technology. It’s been fun to try my hand at the entire flow, starting with the art!
I’m excited to launch this because there will also be multiple phases of development that will add interactivity between the different phases of NFTs. This first phase introduces in the Coolboms. In future phases, there will be “neutrons” you would be able to smash into the Coolboms to produce “energy” and “nuclear waste”, just like how nuclear fission works. It’ll be a fun project I come back to in between development on Chibi Shinobis and my new full time job.
Speaking of which…
It’s a dream come true. I get to spend all my days building things with friends, exploring new technology, writing and making videos about cool stuff. I still have a lot to learn, and a lot to prove, but I’m just grateful to be where I am today.
If you’ve been following so far, thank you for your support! Couldn’t have done it without you ❤️
P.S. I know I’ve been MIA from the YouTube channel :P Lots of videos coming up soon!
