July 26th, 2021 - Weekly Update
What happened last week
I joined a DAO called FWB. Here’s Vitalik Buterin (the creator of Ethereum) defining what fuck friends are, without fully realizing what FWB is referring to. I promise it’s not what Vitalik thinks it is… 😂 I just joined so I’m still getting a feel for all the activities and meeting people in the organization. Also I’m still not sure how much detail I can share but when I find out I’ll update here!
I interviewed with Kernel for a potential fellowship opportunity, talked about Asking Better Questions, and met some really cool people.
Elon Musk, Cathie Wood, Jack Dorsey discussed Bitcoin at The B Word Conference. Lots of other speakers talked about things like “Demystifying Bitcoin”. I have a tweet thread with all of the morning session notes:
I released a video sharing my experience with my rap NFTs and copyright law:
I chatted with my friend Matt about the famous painter Damien Hirst’s NFT drop, “The Currency”. Ten thousand polkadot paintings, $2000 a piece, and once you buy the NFT, you have a window of time to decide whether you want to keep the digital token, OR, trade it in for the physical art work. Whichever one you keep, the other is burned forever.
CryptoLeos, an NFT project by artist David Gersch, ballooned in volume traded on OpenSea, from ~40 ETH to ~60 ETH. The daily CryptoLeo drops became so popular that he invented a token lottery system for newcomers to get involved. The discord is constantly buzzing with activity and many early investors have made multi-thousand dollar returns.
1 day w @CryptoLeos feels like 100 yrs 🤯 To recap: - the collection is at 185/1000 minted - every day @thedavidgersch drops 4 leos - the drops are so hot, sold out in < 30 SECONDS - so he invents CryptoLeo tokens, a lottery system - if you hold tokens, you also get resale money https://t.co/9w8271pmt3
Things I’m looking forward to next week
I called my parents to catch up. They said they’ve been watching my videos and they support me and love me and all, but also that my videos are a little too technical. I’m going to take that feedback and run with it — need to make my language and examples and storytelling even easier so that people know what actions to take if they’re interested in getting involved with crypto.
Bitcoin is back up to ~$38,000 after a slump down to ~$29,000. Twitter is buzzin’.
First vlog will be out soon :)
